Disturbed by the security situation in Nigeria, the Goodluck Support Group (GSG), United Kingdom Chapter has been organizing special prayers for the country.
The GSG UK held a special prayer session last Sunday at the Fathers House International Church Burnt Oak and Our Lady& St Joseph RC Church, London for Nigerians in diaspora and friends of Nigeria to pray for divine intervention and spiritual healing of the troubled land, the homeland famously dubbed as flowing with milk and honey now flowing with blood, tears and sorrow due to the evil machination of religious fanatics.
The Coordinator of the group, Austin Ajaero, in his remark at the prayer session explained the main objectives of GSG to the audience and the need for urgent prayer in the face of global terrorism.
“Goodluck Support Group was established by close friends of Mr. President, it has been in existence since when Dr.Goodluck Jonathan was the deputy governor in Bayelsa state. GSG came out strongly during the national agitation to appoint him as President when the late President Umaru Musa Yar Adua died. Our group has been advising him ever since he became the President and we shall never relent in our efforts.”
Ajaero, however further stressed that no country in the this world can defeat terrorism alone.
“When USA went to Iraq, Afghanistan and many other countries, they invited their allies like the United Kingdom, France, Germany and other EU countries to join the battle to defeat terrorism.
Boko Haram is a well-funded and well-trained terrorist organisation. We have all seen Shekau, the leader of the Boko Haram in the released video standing in front of armoured tanks to make his threats.
This is beyond religion now. That’s why Boko Haram has been hitting soft targets like busy car parks, kidnapping innocent school girls because it is very hard for them to hit government offices.
Even the CIA cannot work without information. Our people must be ready to cooperate with security operatives to track down these terrorists.”
“We are all here today to go spiritual for the sake of peace and progress of Nigeria. We cannot just fold our arms to allow wicked souls to destroy Nigeria. We must all speak out with one voice.
Dr. Goodluck Jonathan is very humble, friendly and listens to criticisms from the opposition politicians on a daily basis, the first Nigerian President with a PhD degree and the man that means well for his fatherland.
If Mr. President had applied force from the first day to dislodge these terrorists from Nigeria, some people would say he did not give room for dialogue to resolve the conflict.
Terrorism is a global crisis and now that the international community is ready to assist Nigeria to checkmate the menace. It is a good step in the right direction.”
Meanwhile, prayers will also be held in different mosque on Friday in London for government of Nigeria and the abducted school girls by the so-called Boko Haram.
