The Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM, has expressed shock and sadness over the frequency of untimely deaths of highly placed Nigerians – the latest of which was the late Haruna Tsokwa, the Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly Speaker, who died at age 47, recently.
“There is a dire need for governments at all levels to pump more resources into preventive medicine and public health; lest the country shall continue to lose more people to manageable silent-killer diseases. After all, no nation grows to its optimum economic potential with a shambolic health sector that records incessant fatalities and high morbidity rates,” stated Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim, the National Chairman of PDM, through his Media Advisor, Alaba Yusuf, while commiserating with the families, friends and the good people of Taraba State, over the sudden demise of the young, brave and courageous political star.
Ibrahim further suggested, “even though human beings have no control over the issue of life and death, yet we must all strive to ensure regular medical check-ups and stick to healthy behavioural and dietary patterns. The government should also make available facilities and drugs for all citizens to gauge their health balance at affordable cost.”
Meanwhile, the PDM leader prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed lawmaker, who etched his name in gold as a people’s politician during his short stay on mother earth.
