The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the Nigerian senior female National Team defeated their South Korean counterpart 2-0 on Wednesday, recording their first win in the group stage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The association’s Secretary, Enugu State Chapter, Ignatius Okpara, gave the advice in an interview with NAN in Enugu on Thursday.
He noted that the Super Falcons needed to be dogged in their next Group A match against France, to keep hope of continuing in the tournament alive.
Okpara said, “Our advice to the African Champions is that, they must remain more determined and focused now.
The handlers of the team should not take chances. They must take the France encounter very seriously, knowing fully well that it is a game between them and the host nation that sometimes enjoy some level of support from home fans.’’
The scribe, however, commended the Nigerian side for lifting up the spirit of the participating African teams in the tournament with the winning over the South Koreans.
“We commend the Super Falcons of Nigeria for their doggedness and resilience in recording Africa’s first victory at the ongoing 8th FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
“We praise the Nigerian girls for putting up a fighting spirit to win the game, after putting behind their 0-3 loss to Norway in their opening match.’’
