Ondo State Deputy Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, says that people of Ondo State should expect more development projects and dividends of good governance.
Aiyedatiwa stated this while reacting to the Supreme Court judgment upholding the re-election of Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, in an interview with newsmen in his office in Akure.
He thanked the people of the state for giving their mandate to the Akeredolu/Aiyedatiwa team during the Oct. 10, 2020 governorship election and for their support during the legal tussle from the Election Petition Tribunal to the Supreme Court.
The deputy governor said that the Akeredolu-led government remained focused, was able to record landmark achievements and inaugurated several development projects within its 100 days in office.
He, however, said that the end of the legal distractions signaled the commencement of more work for the government.
According to him, the Supreme Court verdict is a reflection of the will of the people and their yearnings for good governance, as demonstrated at the poll.
”The will of the people has prevailed. This was demonstrated during the election on Oct. 10, 2020.
“They came out to vote for APC and Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, with the highest votes ever recorded by governorship candidate of any political party in the state.
”I must tell you that with the judgment, the distractions are now over, even though we’ve never stopped working for one day.
”Given the kind of a person the governor is, he has never allowed the court case to hinder him from performing his functions.
“If you look at the first 100 days of the second term in office, you will see lots of projects that were completed and inaugurated,” Aiyedatiwa said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Eyitayo Jegede, had challenged Akeredolu’s victory at the poll, with the case running through the tribunal, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. (NAN)
