By Gracious Akujobi President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Aminu Maigari has assured that attention will now be given to Super Falcons to ensure that they occupy their rightful place in women football in Africa and the world.
The NFF boss, who was speaking recently, stated that the plan is to reposition Falcons into a winning team, noting that the fortunes of the team which nosedived in recent years will be turned around.
“It is not as if we are neglecting the women football or that we don’t want them to succeed. We tried to inject life into the Falcons by engaging a seasoned coach we thought would transform the team but what we got was heart break as the man failed us.
“We lost the African Women Championship because the coach we hired instead of grooming the team tore the team apart and the team could not even win the third placed match”.
He continued “We shall appoint a coach that we expect would revive the Falcons just as we have been able to do with Super Eagles. A coach will soon be announced for the team while we hope to get a technical adviser to take them to next level”
Maigari promised that the Federation will also encourage the other women national teams (Falconets and Flamingoes) with the view to making them African and World champions, adding that NFF is totally committed to developing football at all levels.
