By Gracious Akujobi Former chairman of the Gombe State Football Association, Ahmed Gara -Gombe is optimistic Super Eagles will qualify for the world cup but fear that lack of funds may be the distraction to the team’s preparation for the world cup.
In a chat with Prompt News Online, Gara-Gombe said that Eagles are unstoppable at this stage, adding that there is nothing to worry about as Nigeria fight for 2014 Brazil world cup qualification against Ethiopia.
“As far as I am concerned, Ethiopia cannot stop Nigeria from making it to the world cup. Forget that they finished top of their group, Super Eagles will emerge victorious at the end of the day.
“Honestly speaking, I am very optimistic. I am not worried about Ethiopia, I am looking beyond that and my worry now is releasing fund for preparation for world cup proper because I know qualification for world cup is sure.
Speaking further “You know how we almost went into trouble when we were going for the nations cup, money was not released to NFF two days to the nations’ cup.
“You know we are notorious in this country in passing budget so I am calling on Federal Government to make a supplementary budget especially for Eagles world up preparation”.
Meanwhile, the sports administrator said since the NFF and the players understand the importance of this game to Nigerians, every positive element that is supposed to be in place to get this match wrapped up must be put in place.
