Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo claimed the team deserved more from their disappointing loss to Mali.
Finidi George’s side lost 2-0 against their fellow West Africans at the Grand Stade de Marrakech on Tuesday night.
The Super Eagles went behind in the 18 minute after El Bilal Toure capitalised on a defensive blunder from Chidozie Awaziem to give Mali the lead.
Kamorou Dounmbia netted the second goal for the Eagles three minutes from time.
“I think we played a better second half, it wasn’t a bad game , we just didn’t take our chances and they scored two goals. Overall, I think we played a good game,” Omeruo told NFF TV.
“I think it was good outing for us, fantastic spirit. The players that were here gave their best. We just couldn’t score in the game.”
The Super Eagles will now shift their attention to June 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
