Minister of State for Education, Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu has stressed the importance of information technology in driving National development.

He spoke in his keynote address at the 2024 Information Technology Professionals’ Assembly, according to a statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Folashade Boriowo
Acknowledging the event’s significance, Dr. Sununu commended the Council of Computer Professionals (CPN) for its consistent efforts in organizing strategic discussions on IT issues.
The theme, “Artificial Intelligence: An Enabler for Economic Transformation & Sustainable Development,” resonates with the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing the importance of IT in achieving national goals.
Dr. Sununu also emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to harness IT’s potential for economic, technological, and national security advancement.
He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to integrating IT into education, envisioning Nigeria as a global IT powerhouse.
Furthermore, the Minister urged IT professionals to maintain professionalism and contribute to national development, acknowledging CPN’s role in regulating the profession.
In his welcome address, Mr. Kole Jagun, President/Chairman of Council of Computer Professionals, reiterated the critical role of IT in national development. He highlighted the assembly’s theme, focusing on AI’s potential to drive economic growth and sustainability. READ ALSO:
