For the umpteenth time, the embattled Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has admonished those engaged in the massive killing in the South East geopolitical zone of the country in the name of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which he is leading to stop the carnage forthwith, saying there was no sense in killing the same people for which the Biafran efforts was being made.
The IPOB leader, (otherwise called Onyendu) dressed in his trademark Fendi attire, which he has won since the first time he was arraigned in court last year, was speaking at the premises of the Federal High Court, Abuja, during the continuation of his trial on Tuesday, according to a video being circulated in the social media.
In the video, Kanu, spotting a well-trimmed white beards, and appearing unperturbed despite being denied bail by Justice Binta Murtala Nyako, the presiding judge at the court, spoke against the backdrop of the official position by the Federal Government and even state governments, linking the IPOB to the mindless killings, which had seen two prominent politicians beheaded in less than three months in Anambra, apart from the killing of some other prominent people.
On Monday, ahead of the Tuesday’s appearance of the IPOB boss, the Imo State Police Command, had paraded those they claimed had confessed to the killing of Ahmed Gulak, former aide to former President, Goodluck Jonathan, on his way to Owerri airport in Imo State, in March last year, an incident that shook the entire nation.
Parading the suspects, on Monday, the police, labelled them as IPOB members, saying they had confessed how the brutally murdered the prominent politician after waylaying him on the way to boarding his flight to Abuja, after a meeting with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma.
“I want our people to be calm. I want Biafra land to be calm just and peaceful. I want Biafra land to be calm and very peaceful. That’s why I’m here. We’re fighting to defend our people and not to kill them and we’ll continue to do so until we get freedom”, Kanu said in the video.
