**As Clergy admonishes adherents to leave good legacy

It was a solemn but impressive gathering of who is who in the society as St. James Anglican Church Asokoro, Abuja on Tuesday held Night of Tributes/ Service of Songs of its prominent member, Lady Nkiru Eucharia Ohakim (nee Chukwubude) who transited to the higher realms recently.
Lady Nkiru, wife of Sir Emmanuel Ohakim, Chief of Staff to the former governor of Imo state, Sir Ikedi Godson Ohakim, died at National Hospital, Abuja on April 12, 2023.
In his Exhortation, Venerable Festus Nwafili, Bishop-elect of Ndokwa Diocese, Delta state and presently Vicar of St. Mathew’s Anglican Church Maitama, Abuja, admonished the congregants to prepare their ways as life is short, adding that everyone will give accounts of his or her stewardship on earth on the last day.
Said he: “everyone of us seated here this evening has his or her own day to depart the world. And when that happens we give account to God, the creator who is seated on the Judgement Throne.
“Let’s live life well because life is short. Invest your life well. We should not waste the Grace God has given to us because whatever we do on earth, we will answer to it one day before God”.
Ven. Nwafili therefore asked the people to consider where they will spend eternity, stressing that people should give their lives to Jesus Christ before it’s too late because after death comes the Judgement of God.
The Clergy however eulogize late Lady Ohakim for the many testimonies given by those who knew her, pointing out that it is gratifying to note that everyone who spoke testified to the good work of the departed noble woman.
Said he: “With the testimonies of the good work done by our late sister in Christ, I have no doubt in my mind of where she will be. Testimonies from family members, colleagues in the office, church members showed that she lived a good life, worthy of emulation”.
Speaking on behalf of the Ohakim family, former governor Ikedi Ohakim lamented the untimely death of Lady Nkiru whom he described as “an Amazon” and much loved by the entire family because of her humility, steadfastness and love she radiates.
He said they are devastated by her demise and prayed for the repose of her soul, adding that she left good legacy which will endear her in the hearts of those she left behind.
Also speaking, Vicar of St. James Anglican Church Asokoro, Dr. Ben Idume prayed for the repose of the gentle soul of Lady Nkiru and prayed for the Ohakim family especially her husband and children, asking God to protect them and everyone who will travel for the funeral in Imo state.
Anglican Women’s Guild and Women’s Union rendered spacial songs for their departed member while her colleagues from Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) laision office, Abuja also rendered spacial songs too in her memory.
Amongst prominent Nigerians who attended the Night of Tributes/Service of Songs for Lady Nkiru are Senators Ifeanyi Araraume and Osita Izunaso; Ambassador Eddie Onuoha and Chief (Dr) Basil Onuoha of Esteem Motors Ltd. as well as top politicians and business moguls.
Others were former first Ladies of Imo state; Barrister Chioma Ohakim and Mrs Olivia Achike-Udenwa; Aquinas Old Boys Association and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Retirees.
The remains of Lady Nkiru will be laid to rest on Friday, June 30, 2023 at her husband’s country home at Umunnuma, Okohia Ancient Town of Isiala Mbano Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo state.
