No fewer than 500 Amateur Golfers have so far registered for this year’s IBB International Golf and Country Club Captain’s Cup tournament.
The week-log activities designed to celebrate outgoing Captain of the Club, Dr. Banjo Obaleye after 12 months in office kicked started with Staff and Caddies Kitty on Monday as well as Pros tournament which took place on Tuesday.
Briefing Journalists at the club house, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru said Men and Ladies Veterans will compete among themselves on Thursday while the activities will climax on Saturday when men in Handicap Zero to Nine point Eight and Ladies in Handicap Fourteen point five to twenty three point seven will battle for the converted Cup.
” It’s carefully designed to celebrate the Sportsman, Astute Administrator and the Entrepreneur, Dr Banjo Obaleye, who has done so well in the last 12 months as Captain of the Club.
Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mandated the Sports Minister, Senator John Owah Enoh to represent him at the tee off on Saturday.
We are also delighted that other dignitaries have also agreed to be part of the celebration either by playing or sponsoring the event,” Senator Ajibola Basiru said.
While Congratulating the planning committee on the job so far, the outgoing Captain of the Club, Dr. Banjo Obaleye said the Exco under him has initiated an endowment fund to cater for the need of upcoming golfers from age nine to Seventeen.
“We have proposed to the club, a sum of 10 million Naira as a take off of the endowment fund and also appeal to corporate organizations to support so as to help talented young golfers achieving their aims. READ ALSO:

Golf is becoming a multi million dollars game and Nigeria cannot afford to sit and watch,” Obaleye concluded.
Meanwhile, Friday has been set aside as practice day for the players while the ceremonial tee off will take place early Saturday morning.
