The Vice Presidential Candidate during the 2019 Nigeria Presidential Election, Mr. Peter Obi has advised parents of Igbo origin to always communicate with their children in Igbo Language.
The Former Governor of Anambra State stated this during the Public Presentation of an Award-winning book titled OKUKO SAKATA USA NKATA EKPUDO YA written by Nze U. Nze which won the First Prize in the 2021 Nigeria National Award for Creative Writing in Indigenous Language, at Tansian University Umunya, Anambra State.
Addressing the guests, Mr. Nze U. Nze who is also a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication of Tansian University Umunya, Anambra State discribed the the Vice Presidential Candidate of the 2019 Nigeria Presidential Election Mr. Peter Obi who was Special Guest of Honour in the Occasion as tested and trusted change agent.
“Sir Peter Obi, many politicians hated you when you were the Governor of Anambra State because you did not ‘share’ money to them for personal gratifications. You invested and empowered individuals which resulted to success today.
“I was among the First Class Graduates of Anambra State who benefited from the One Million Naira (N1,000,000) scholarship for postgraduate studies. The support helped me to further my studies and improved on my creative writing activities. Others that benefited from the scholarship are teaching at varies universities both within and outside Nigeria. We equally have those working in well established corporate organizations”, the University don said.
In his remarks, the former Governor commended Nze for making judicious use of the scholarship given to him and taking the name of Anambra State to a greater heights by winning First Prize in the national competition.
Obi said he was highly impressed that Mr. Nze wrote in Igbo Language when parents of Igbo extraction no longer speak the language tobtheir children.
He reminded the guests of the concerted efforts he made to sustain Igbo Language when he was governor, starting from giving scholarship to students that want to study Igbo Language in the university, financing the association called SUWAKWA IGBO and employing graduates of Igbo Language in their sector.
The former governor said he was happy that Nze and other students he empowered when he was governor of the state are making the state proud and also doing well in their respective areas.
