At last, the much-awaited Spanish leaque stars have joined the Super Falcons camp in Texas, United States (US) with the arrival on Wednesday of five more players to camp.
They are Rasheedat Ajibade (Athletico Madrid), Charity Adule (SD Eibar), Tochi Oluehi (Pozoalbanse), Rita Chikwelu and Chidinma Okeke (Madrid CFF) who arrived the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Houston at 2:00pm local time to the warm embrace of the Nigerian delegation.
Although team captain Asisat Oshoala and Belarus-based experienced defender, Onome Ebi were not in the entourage that arrived from Spain, there was huge relief for Super Falcons gaffer, Randy Waldrum who has grown grey hairs in the last few days waiting for the arrival of the invited players
for the 4-Nation invitational tournament tagged Summer Series.
The tournament is featuring USA, Nigeria, Portugal and Jamaica. It holds from June 10 to 16 in Houston and Austin respectively.
With the arrival of the five players the number of players in camp at the time of this report swell to 21 just as the 16 that arrived on Tuesday had earlier trained at the BBVA Stadium, venue for the first two games between Nigeria and Jamaica on Thursday and Portugal on June 13.
Prompt News exclusively gathered that two “uninvited” Nigeria-American players sought permission to train with Super Falcons in the absence of full squad in their first work-out on Wednesday morning.
The late arrivals were expected to join the evening training ahead of the clash with Reggae Girlz of Jamaica later Thursday
