From Harry Awurumibe in Awka, Anambra
The flagbearer of the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has jumped to an early lead in the Anambra state governorship election as the results so far declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) favoured him.
The APGA candidate has won six of the 21 Local Government Areas elections so far declared by INEC on Sunday just as he looks good on some others yet to be declared officially by the electoral umpire as at the time of this report.
The LGAs that have fallen to APGA are Dunukofia, Awka South, Ayamelum, Anambra East, Anaocha and Oyi.
In Dunukofia, APGA scored APGA 4,124 to beat APC and PDP which got 1,991 and 1,680 respectively.
Also, APGA took Awka South while PDP and APC finished in the second and third places just as APGA beat PDP and APC to win Oyi, Ayamelum and Anambra East LGAs.
The rest of other 15 political parties polled between zero and two hundred votes in these LGAs already declared.
Also, APGA has won Idemili South LGA. According to the Returning Officer of Idemili South, Dr.Gabriel Odor of the University of Calabar who announced the result APGA scored a total of 2,312 to beat PDP (2,016) and APC (1,039) to carry the day.
