The ruling Peoples Democratic Party presidential campaign turned bloody on Thursday as angry youths attacked presidential convoy in Bauchi, injuring no fewer than six Jonathan’s bodyguards (BGs).
Prompt News recalls that the President’s convoy was attacked by angry youths on Tuesday when he went to Katsina to campaign.
On arrival in Bauchi at about 11.00 am, President Goodluck Jonathan went straight to pay homage to the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwan Suleiman Adamu, before heading to the campaign ground.
However, as he was leaving the palace, dozens of irate youths had gathered outside displaying brooms and the posters of the All Progressives Congress.
They also attempted to attack the convoy but were promptly prevented due to heavy security presence.
Apparently still determined to humiliate the President, the youths laid ambush for the PDP bigwigs and attacked again after the rally held at the Ibrahim Babangida square, Bauchi.
They hurled stones at the vehicles as they filed out of the rally ground. Unfortunately, the youths hit the last bus on the convoy carrying men of the Department of State Service (DSS) otherwise known as ‘bodyguards’.
The big stone they threw smashed the windscreen and injured no fewer than six of the bodyguards (BGs) who were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital for initial treatment before onward transfer to Abuja.
