Ahead of the World Cricket League Six Championships which begin on the 18th of this month in Jersey, United Kingdom, players and officials of Nigeria’s Senior National Team are now in London.
The team which arrived Cheltenham on Friday with 13 players and two officials will play five friendly games preparatory to the championships proper. Also on ground to beef up the team are three Professional players.
The teams are Wilshire Cricket Club, Notterne Cricket Club, Heredfordshire Cricket Club, Brockamphamton Cricket Club and Free Forester Cricket Club.
According to the Media Officer and board member of the Nigeria Cricket Federation Board, Kayode Adeniyi, this is the first time the senior team will go on any training tour ahead of major tournaments.
“These friendlies are so important because it will give our team more psychological preparations ahead of this important competition. We cannot afford to miss this opportunity after the marvelous job the team did in Gaborone, Botswana where they picked the promotional ticket to play in the League six championships,” Adeniyi said.
“The invitations of Dotun Olatunji from Canada as well as Endurance Ofem and Saidi Akolade from London will surely help the team during this campaign” Adeniyi said.
