Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke has been declared the winner of Tuesday’s Osun State Governorship Primary Election of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Osun state gubernatorial election is scheduled for July 16, 2022 even as Senator Adeleke was also the party’s flagbearer in the last election that brought current Osun state Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
He lost in a controversial manner.
The former Senator (PDP-Osun) polled 1, 800 votes to defeat his closest rivals Dotun Babayemi and Mr. Bamidele Adeleke who polled paltry four and one votes to place second and third respectively.
The PDP primary which was held at the 10,000 capacity Oshogbo stadium, was conducted by a Five-man Osun Primary Election Committee led by the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa state, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo; former Minister of Transportation Senator Abiye Sekibo and three others who were nominated by PDP National Working Committee (NWC).
Meanwhile, Senator Sekibo has described the Osun PDP primary election as peaceful, adding that he is not aware of any boycott by any aspirant as all the six contestant’s names appeared on the ballot.
