By Olusegun Lawrence Nigerian Senate on Wednesday summoned Professor Itse Sagay, to appear before it over comment considered offensive by the Senators.
Prof Sagay, a constitutional lawyer and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), chairs the Presidential Advisory Committee on anti-corruption.
The summon was issued sequel to a Point of Order raised by the Deputy Senate Leader, Bala ibn Na’allah calling the attention of his colleagues to a newspaper report.
Prof Sagay had on Tuesday, reported by the newspaper as saying that most Senators are people of questionable character.
Prompt News recalls that the anti-corruption chair had also recently said that Ibrahim Magu would continue to function as EFCC chairman in acting capacity with or without Senate confirmation.
Meanwhile, the Senate has received the list of ministerial nominees sent by President Muhammadu Buhahri for confirmation.
The two nominees are:
Suleiman Hassan (Gombe), Prof. Steven Ocheni (Kogi).
Mr Hassan will replace the former Minister of Environment, Ms Amina Mohammed, who is now United Nations Deputy Secretary General.
Also if confirmed, Prof Ocheni, will replace Barrister Ocholi, who died in a ghastly car crash along Abuja-Kaduna road a year ago.
