By Olusegun Lawrence Piqued by allegations bordering on collection of money from prospective Corps, the Senate on Tuesday dropped the Peace Corps Bill till further notice.
The decision to drop the Bill was informed by the consensus views of many Senators who spoke against it.
Many Senators were not favourably disposed to consideration of Conference Report on the Bill since the leadership of the Corps is already facing charges filed against it by the police.
Notwithstanding efforts by the Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan, to ensure the passage of the Bill, his plea was waived aside by his colleagues.
Prompt News recalls that the National Commandant of the Nigerian Peace Corps, Dickson Akoh, was arrested and detained in March for illegal operation.
