Sen. Sunday Katung (PDP-Kaduna South) has organised a two-day training programme for over 100 youths, focusing on Computer-Based Testing (CBT).
The move was in response to the low performance of secondary school students in the 2024 WAEC and JAMB examinations in the Kaduna South Senatorial District
The participants, mainly public school teachers and graduates, were selected from the 87 wards of the district.
They were tasked with cascading the training to senior secondary school students across Southern Kaduna, preparing them for the computer-based format of WAEC, NECO and JAMB examinations.
Katung partnered with Pareto Matrix International to ensure the initiative improves the students’ performances and increases tertiary institutions’ enrollment from the district.
Speaking at the training seminar in Kafanchan, Katung, represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Wilson Yangye, emphasised that the programme aimed to modernise education in the area by enhancing digital literacy.
“This free training equips facilitators who will return to their communities and train secondary school students on how to navigate computer-based examinations, which many of them have never encountered,” Katung said.
He said that the initiative aligned with his campaign promises to improve education and increase university admissions in the district.
“As the representative of Kaduna South, I am fully committed to the educational advancement of my constituents.
”With this training, our students will be better prepared for their exams, thereby improving their chances of success,” he added.
Dr Michael Samuel, CEO of Pareto Matrix International, reechoed Katung’s sentiments.

He stated that the training not only addresses the students’ lack of exposure to computers but also helps them manage time more effectively during examinations.
Samuel added that the facilitators would also assist the students in making informed career choices.
