The immediate past Commissioner for Information in Rivers state, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari Tuesday, took over as the acting Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
She promised rapid development of the Niger Delta region in line with the change agenda.
Mrs Semenitari, spoke at the commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after taking over from the erstwhile Managing Director, Mr Bassey Dan-Abia.
Her words, “I have in-depth knowledge of what the commission ought to be doing in terms of development. I understand what our challenges are. It is now time for me to play my part. I have a responsibility to God and to President Buhari to ensure that his vision for the Niger Delta comes to pass.
“Because I am yet to get briefing from the directors, I cannot make a clear policy statement. But I will do what the President wants, which is the development of the region.“
The new NDDC boss served under Rotimi Amaechi, now the Minister of Transport.
