The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris has called on all the media to be responsible and patriotic in carrying out their constitutional responsibility.
Idris gave the charge during an interview session on Channels Television’s Sun Raise Daily Programme monitored by News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Abuja.
According to the Minister, security agencies are doing their best for the country, adding that sometimes, it is easy for people to criticize them.
“Such people don’t know what the security personnel go through in their effort to protect this country; they sometimes pay the supreme price to keep us together.
“Just imagine one night in Abuja without any police officer on the street; just imagine going to the Northeast Region without a single soldier on ground to make us sleep well.
“The security agencies are contributing to our collective existence; they are contribution to our growth and development, because without security everything collapses.
“By and large, security agencies are doing their best in this country, we need to support them. They are Nigerians. We need to make them feel appreciated.

“Media organisations should project more of their achievements and exploits to the world than those of the bandits and insurgents.
“If our soldiers goes out and kill terrorists, why can’t we say terrorists are killed, why would it be the other way round? It is wrong,’’ Idris said. (NAN)
