Emmanuel Egbele, Board Member, Lagos State Scrabble Association, says Lagos players are battle ready to win medals in the sport at the forthcoming National Sports Festival, “Edo 2020.”
Egbele spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the backdrop of the just concluded two-day first Emmanuel Egbele Annual Scrabble Tournament held in Lagos.
NAN reports that more than N700,000 was won at the scrabble tournament which ended on Saturday at the COWSLO Hall, Lekki, Lagos.
“The tournament was conceived to impact on the development of scrabble as a sport.
“Lagos State is well prepared for the forthcoming Edo 2020.
“A lot of the players who will also be representing Lagos State in the National Sports Festival participated at the just concluded two-day competition.
“Their performances had shown that the chances of Lagos State is quite bright,’’ he said.
Egbele expressed gratitude to the organisers of the scrabble tournament and urged philanthropists to support in sponsorship of more competitions. (NAN)
