Government and private schools in Ibadan metropolis, on Monday resumed for the 2023/24 academic session in the state.
A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Correspondent who monitored the resumption in the metropolis reported that students in both public and private schools were seen in their various schools as early as 7 a.m.
Some of the schools visited included Rhema Chapel International College, Oluyole area, Ibadan, Christ Ambassadors International School and Oluyole High School.
Others included Government College, Ibadan (GCI), People’s Primary School, Ring Road, Oluyole Private school, Oluyole, St. Leo’s Private School, Orita, Ansar-u-deen Primary School, Ososami; and George and Duke Secondary School, Felele, all within Ibadan metropolis.
NAN reports that teachers were also seen on ground supervising students cleaning the school premises, preparatory to commencement of classes.
Speaking to NAN, The Principal, Rhema Chapel International College, Oluyole, Mrs Taiwo Oyedemi, thanked God for the beginning of a new session.
“We are very happy to see our students returning to school in good condition.
“God has been helping us, and we are building future leaders with moral integrity with excellent academic achievements.
“We are focusing on improved academic performance this session and a lot has been put in place to ensure that the students excel in their academics.
She urged parents to assist the school by being alive to their responsibilities and support their efforts in the training of their wards and moulding their characters for a brighter future.
Similarly, Principal, Oluyole High School, Adeoyo, Mrs Bolanle Adeleke, appreciated God for the new session, saying the management was happy to receive the students.
She urged them to shun late coming and attend school regularly, as academic activities commenced immediately, adding that classrooms were already cleaned and ready for studies.
Principal, Government College, Apata, Ibadan, O.J Amao, said the school resumed peacefully and thanked God for the return of new and old students.
“We are looking forward to a successful section as we work towards new activities for the students.
