The Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has mourned the passing of the Secretary to the Ondo State Government (SSG), Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, sympathised with the Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa; the Ondo State Government; and the people of the State over the demise of the SSG.
Sanwo-Olu described the late Oluwatuyi, a former Chairman of Akure South Local Government Area and SSG to the late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, as a dedicated and hard-working public servant who served his State and the people passionately.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who commended the deceased’s patriotism and commitment to the service of Ondo State and her people, said the late Oluwatuyi will forever be remembered for his invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the State.
He prayed that God will grant the late Oluwatuyi eternal rest and grant Governor Aiyedatiwa, the Ondo State Government, the deceased’s family, friends, and associates, as well as the entire people of Ondo State, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
In the same vein, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has described the death as “painful and shocking”.
This is contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Ibadan by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
Makinde, while expressing his condolences to Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on the demise of the SSG, encouraged him and the family of the deceased to be strong and courageous.
He equally condoled with the Oluwatuyi family and the people of the state, praying that God would grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
“This death is shocking and painful, but we can only submit to the will of God, who gives and takes life,” Makinde stated.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Oluwatuyi was involved in a ghastly car accident on Dec 15, 2024 on Akure – Ibadan road and was subsequently hospitalised.
On his part, Governor Ademola Adeleke has offered condolences to his Ondo state counterpart, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, over the demise of the Secretary to the state government, Tayo Oluwatuyi.
The Governor in a statement by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed described the death of the Late Ondo SSG as a rudeshock, describing him as a vibrant and loyal servant of the people of Ondo state.
He also condoled the immediate and entire family of Mr Tayo Oluwatuyi, the Ondo State Government and the people of Ondo state, adding that Tayo Oluwatuyi will be greatly missed.
“I wish to commiserate with my brother, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo state over the demise of the Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Mr Tayo Oluwatuyi.

“Tayo Oluwatuyi in his lifetime was a vibrant and loyal servant of the people of Ondo state. His vacuum will be very difficult to fill.
“I extend my condolences to the immediate and entire Oluwatuyi family, the Ondo State Government and the people of Ondo state. No doubt Tayo Oluwatuyi will be greatly missed.
“We pray that his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” the Governor noted.
