Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo, is among several world leaders who is attending the 50th Independence Anniversary of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Sambo, is representing President Goodluck Jonathan at the occasion. He arrived Julius Nyerere International Airport, Dar-es-Salaam Friday, 25th April, 2014 at 19.00 hours.
He was received by the Nigerian High Commissioner to Tanzania, Dr. Ishaya Samaila Majanbu, the Tanzanian Minister of Defense and National Security, Dr. Husseini Mwinyi and other senior government officials of both countries.
Tanzania got her independence in 1964. Nigeria established diplomatic relations with Tanzania as far back as 1962, primarily to encourage cooperation on actions aimed at decolonization of African countries as both countries were members of the frontlines states.
Relations between both countries remain cordial especially in terms of strengthening of the judicial practices and military cooperation since the early days of its independence. His Excellency, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete is the President of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Vice President Namadi Sambo is billed to have an interactive session with the Nigerian community in the country.
Accompanying the Vice President were Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr Nurudeen Mohammed, Senator Zego Aziz and other principal aides.
