The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command, says it has beamed spotlight on recreational centres, worship centres and other public infrastructure to prevent breakdown of law and order during the Sallah celebration.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Williams, said this in a statement by the command’s Spokesman, DSP Adewale Osifeso in Ibadan on Thursday.
Williams, who wished Muslims a Happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration, said that comprehensive and detailed security provisions had been in place to ensure the sustainability of the relative peace of the state during and beyond the holidays.
He said that Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and other Heads of Departments had been mandated to lead, supervise and ensure adequate and effective deployment of personnel to various areas of security interest throughout the state.
“In addition to the above, viable intelligence networks have been strategically established among relevant sister agencies to beam spotlight on recreational centers, media houses, educational institutions, places of worship, public spaces and other critical infrastructure in the state.
“The citizenry will also experience confidence-building, intensive patrols around public spaces, coordinated stop and search activities, high octane visibility patrols on highways and sequenced convoy patrols with relevant security agencies across the length and breadth of the state,” he said.
The commissioner said that the command’s Monitoring Unit and X-squad had been marshalled to ensure sanity by officers and men as they discharge their duties in compliance with all standard operational procedures. (NAN)
