An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded two men who allegedly
robbed a man of N4.5 million and an iPhone at gunpoint.
The Magistrate, Mrs H. B. Mogaji, did not take the pleas of Abubakar Buhari, 33, and Peter Ogunlade, 25.
She said that she needed advice from the state’s director of public prosecution.
Mogaji ordered that Buhari, a truck driver, and Ogunlade, an electrician, should be kept in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
The magistrate adjourned the case until Oct. 5 for mention.
The defendants are both residents of Mushin in Lagos State.
They are charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.
The Prosecutor, Insp Felicia Okwori, told the court that the defendants
committed the offences on July 14 at No. 15, Aberemureje St., Ikotun, Lagos.
Okwori said that the defendants and others at large forcefully entered the residence
of the complainant, Mr Michael Afolabi, with guns, robbed him of an iPhone 12 Pro Max
worth N550,000, and transferred N4.5 million from his bank account.
The prosecutor said that, with the help of the police and the bank, the phone the money was transferred to and the house address of the owner were tracked.
Okwori said that the offences contravened Sections 287, 297 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
