A dawn road accident involving a trailer ladden with crates of beer which crashed into shops at Okigwe city in Imo state is causing traffic snare as broken bottles have rendered the road impassable.
Although Prompt News cannot confirm if lives were lost, the destruction of the crates of beer and its liquid contents by irate residents gave the indication that the crash would have claimed lives.
The accident which happened near Amuro village along busy Okigwe- Anara-Owerri road at night may have been caused by brake failure as the 22-wheels trailer which was fully loaded with assorted types of alcoholic beer veered off the road and ended up inside buildings.
A resident who does not want to be mentioned confirmed the destruction of the goods in the trailer was a revenge mission, pointing out that residents visited their frustrations on the products the vehicle was conveying at the time of the accident.
As a result of the accident, all the plastic crates and bottles were damaged by angry residents with the road littered with broken bottles.
Motorists and pedestrians had a tough time this morning navigating the road hence the traffic delay experienced by road users at the spot.
