Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has finally redeemed his pledge to Rivers United players and officials for winning the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League title.
Wike earlier promised the players and their officials $20,000 for claiming the title for the first time.
The state number one citizen has now redeemed the pledge.
Stanley Eguma’s side beat off strong competition from Plateau United to emerge champions.
“Governor Nyesom Wike redeems $20,000 pledge to each player and official of Rivers United for emerging champions of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League,” reads a tweet on the club’s official Twitter handle.
Aside from looking to successfully defend their NPFL title, Rivers United will also campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
