Nigeria Police authorities Wednesday confirmed that Rivers House Leader, Chidi Lloyd is at the Force headquarters in Abuja, helping detectives in the ongoing investigation into the fracas that broke out in the House recently.
According to the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, the lawmaker is cooperating with detectives. He therefore, enjoined the people of rivers state to maintain calm, promising speedy investigation.
“The House Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Honourable Chidi Lloyd, yesterday 23rd July, 2013, reported at Force CID, Force Headquarters, Abuja, in response to a summon earlier issued by the Police High Command.
“The Honourable member who arrived Force Headquarters at about 4.00pm, in company of his lawyers is currently helping Police investigators in efforts at unraveling the circumstances surrounding the crisis that occurred in the hallowed chambers of the House of Assembly. The lawmaker has commendably, so far shown a high level of cooperation with Police detectives. Meanwhile, his interrogation is still ongoing.
“It will be recalled that the Force had on 17th July, 2013, summoned Honourable Lloyd and two others to report to the Force CID to explain their roles in the current crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly, especially, as shown in some video footages by the media.
“While commending the people of Rivers State for the prevailing peace in the state, the IGP assures Nigerians that the Force will do everything within its power to ensure that justice is not only done, but manifestly seen to be done. He therefore, promised a quick, fair and unbiased investigation,” Mba stated.
