The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, said it has uncovered how Governor Nyesom Wike met and illegally obtained ‘approval’ of the Rivers State House of Assembly at dawn.
A press statement signed by Mr. Chris Finebone Wedneday said, ‘According to the source who was also involved in the entire bizarre arrangement, Gov. Nyesom Wike met with his cohorts by 5 am at the Government House, Port Harcourt where he briefed them on the need to keep away this loan from the prying eyes of Rivers People, after which they moved to the Rivers State House of Assembly [RSHA] Complex to meet with the state assembly men. By 6 am, the House members, who were previously notified of the unusual meeting, privately passed a resolution authorising the governor to borrow the sum of N10bn from a commercial bank [name withheld]. A second resolution authorizing another N22b was also considered.”
Continuing, the APC revealed that Gov. Nyesom Wike had a day earlier forged a state executive decision empowering him to embark on securing the illegal loan. The phantom State Executive Council decision was signed by Kenneth Kobani and dated 10th November 2015.
“It is pertinent to re-state that it is public knowledge that there is no legally constituted State Cabinet in place in Rivers State and the government has so confessed and agreed in writing elsewhere” the APC said.
“We are also aware that there was no proper and public sitting by the Rivers State House of Assembly where such a resolution was passed. There is no record of the Public Gallery of the hallowed chambers of the House opened to the public to witness the discussion and passing of the said resolution” the APC noted further.
The APC called on Gov. Nyesom Wike to retrace his errant steps quickly on the matter or be caught in the web of illegality which his action has created and urged commercial banks to desist from being forced to become accessories to criminal actions of Gov. Nyesom Wike and his co-travellers who already know that they are living on borrowed times.
