At last, Nigeria’s U23 players and officials arrived in Manaus, Brazil on Thursday afternoon to participate in the football event of the Rio Olympic Games.
The team, christened Dream Team VI landed at the Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes-Manaus International Airport, Brazil, at about 2.19 pm.
Timi Ebikagboro, team’s Media Officer tweeted as soon as they landed few hours ahead of their opening game against Japan, billed for early hours of Friday.
“Touched down Manaus 2.19pm.
“Dream Team going through immigration formalities to God be the glory,” Ebikagboro tweeted.
Prompt News Online recalls that the team was stranded for days in Atlanta, United States of America where they had camped ahead of the Olympic Games.
The team could not depart Atlanta on time due to inability of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC to make proper flight arrangement.
