Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yussuff Sulaimon Lasun has congratulated the new Oluwo-elect, Prince Rasheed Adewale Akanbi, who is from Gbaase ruling house of Iwo, Osun State, on his selection as the new Oluwo of Iwo.
The announcement by the state governor of the State of Osun- Rauf Aregbesola confirms the selection of this young man with professional experience and community’s selfless service, which I believe he is going to utilize to accelerate more development projects in Iwo.
Lasun also congratulated the State of Osun and the people of Iwo for the successful completion of the selection processes. The Legislative arm of the National Government of Nigeria shall continue to assiduously respect the institutions of traditional Obas in Nigeria and accord them with deserving recognition compatible with our democracy and traditions.
Deputy Speaker however called on the Iwo traditional council of chiefs, sons and daughters of Iwo across religious, political and occupational divides to support the Oba-elect in the administration of Iwo land.
“I wish the new Oba-elect a peaceful and successful tenure. I pray that his regime will bring more fortunes, prosperity and enable all his subjects a good and healthy livelihood, and the entire State of Osun shall remain peaceful and progressing,” Chief Press Secretary, Wole Oladimeji, quoted him as saying.
