The three-man Presidential Investigative Committee set up by President Muhammadu Buhari, to investigate corruption allegations against the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, is completing its assignment today (Wednesday).
Both Ayo Oke and Babachir Lawal are on suspension pending the outcome of the committee’s assignment.
Prompt News reports that Oke is being investigated over $43 million discovered in an apartment at Osbourne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, which he said was meant for NIA’s covert operations.
Also, Babachir Lawal is under investigation over allegations of Due Process Violations in the Award of Contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).
Senior Media Aide to the Vice President, Laolu Akande, in a statement on Wednesday, confirmed that the committee would submit its report to the President on Monday, May 8, 2017.
