Rep. Yusuf Gagdi (APC-Plateau) on Thursday donated 20 vehicles to some of his constituents and security agencies in his constituency.
Gagdi, who represents Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam Federal Constituency, distributed the vehicles in Pankshin during the presentation of his Mid-Term Report to mark his two years in office.
The lawmaker said at the event that the vehicles included three Hilux, six Jeeps and eleven Peugeot 406.
He explained that the gesture to the security agencies was aimed at addressing the security challenges in the constituency and the state.
He said that some of the cars would be for the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jama’atu Nasrul Islam (JNI) in the three local government areas that make up the constituency.
Gagdi said that the other cars would go to his aides and some of his loyalists.
“Today we have twenty vehicles to donate to various groups, including the Joint Security Committee of the constituency.
“The message is clear; it is to support the security agencies to fight crime and criminality, as well as ensure safety of lives and property of our people.
“Other beneficiaries will be the JNI, CAN, some of my aides and loyalists
“I am not doing this to intimidate anybody, but I took an oath to better the lots of our people,”he said
Similarly, the lawmaker distributed 100 wheelchairs to Persons Living With Disabilities (PWDs) in the local government areas.
He said the gesture was to ensure that all constituents benefitted from his development strides.
Handing over the keys of the vehicles to some of the beneficiaries, Gov. Simon Lalong thanked Gagdi for keying into his vision of stemming the tide of insecurity in the state.
Lalong said the gesture would further consolidate the gains of democracy for the people of the constituency and the state.
He also said that the vehicles donated to the security agencies would ensure improved patrols that would promote security of lives and property.
He called on the beneficiaries to put the vehicles to good use and for the benefit of the society in general. (NAN)
