Rep. Sani Lawal (APC-Katsina) on Tuesday in Baure disbursed N10 million to 500 constituents to boost their small-scale businesses.
Lawal, who represents Baure and Zango Federal Constituency said that the gesture would reduce the hardship being faced by his people as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy.
He said that each beneficiary would be given N20,000 to boost his or her small-scale businesses in order to become self-reliant and employers of labour.
The lawmaker further said that the empowerment was targeted at youths and women, particularly the less-privileged ones.
“The support will assist to boost their businesses and improve their living conditions especially at this period of economic hardship,” he said.
In his remarks, the Speaker, Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya, commended Lawal for showing concern to his constituents.
Yahaya said that the gesture goes a long way in boosting their socio-economic status, urging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money for the betterment of their families.
Some of the beneficiaries interviewed thanked the lawmaker for the support and urged other well-to-do individuals to emulate his magnanimity for the development of the area.(NAN). READ ALSO:
