By Collins Agwam, Lafia The palpable tension in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa state has
compelled many residents to move out to the neighbouring states.
Prompt news reports that women and children were seen carrying their luggage, fleeing the state capital.
A woman, who simply identified herself as Mrs. Tina, said “I have to run away with my children because there are speculations of more impending crisis.
She added that “my husband had to ask me to leave with the children because of the tension which was created in the state last night”.
Also speaking on why he was leaving the state, Emeka Agu, a family man had this to say, “my people after hearing about the crisis in the news immediately asked me to bring my family back home”.
He explained that his kinsmen threatened to abandon him if he insisted in remaining in Lafia.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations officer, ASP Theodre Ugochukwu said “The people are evacuating the state because they believe the state is no longer safe.
He appealed to the people to remain calm as his men are “on top of the situation”.
