A fresh report has highlighted the declining political fortunes of Mudashiru Obasa, the former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, as his once-loyal associates have seemingly distanced themselves from him.
During a press briefing held yesterday, Obasa appeared flanked by unfamiliar faces, as many of his former allies were notably absent.
For over a decade, Obasa held significant sway in Lagos politics, commanding respect and wielding authority with little opposition.
His allies once rallied around him, forming a solid political network that bolstered his influence.
According to ThisDay, however, Obasa’s fortunes took a sharp turn due to his confrontational stance against the governor and party elders.
Analysts suggested that his bold rhetoric and unsparing criticisms may have alienated those who once stood by him.
The report notes: “Obasa once thrived on the unwavering loyalty of his political circle, but confidence gave way to hubris. His impeachment, though significant, wasn’t the ultimate blow—it was the eerie silence that followed. Those who previously sought his favor have now disappeared, leaving him isolated in the political wilderness.
“It’s not hard to imagine that former associates now avoid his calls and steer clear of his invitations. Political relationships, much like Lagos traffic, are unpredictable—when the journey becomes rough, many opt to abandon the ride.”
Adding to his challenges, Obasa now faces the looming threat of scrutiny from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which could compound his struggles and solidify his fall from grace.
