By Gracious Akujobi Nigeria Premier League club, Rangers International FC of Enugu have moved into camp preparatory to the commencement of the 2013/2014 Glo Premier League season which kicks off on February 21.
The club’s General Manager, Paul Ozor, told Prompt News Online in Abuja that the camp which opened at the Rojenny Stadium Oba, Anambra State on January 30, has 33 players including the team officials and would last for three weeks.
“I am very happy that the boys have assured me that they are very willing to play this season and that they are going to put in their best.
“We have a good number of our old players but we have infused some young talented players who are part of the team that represented Nigeria at the U-17 World Cup”.
He noted that the appointment of Former Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh would boost the club’s chances of winning the 2013/2014 league season
“We hope that as the season starts, Rangers will do a turnaround and make sure the trophy is ours this time,’’ Ozor said.
The GM commended the League Management Company (LMC) for its laudable initiatives aimed at bringing sanity to the league but urged it to match words with action.
He therefore, urged the LMC to ensure equal and adequate live coverage of the league matches, as it would help to checkmate hooliganism and encourage healthy competition.
“All we are asking is that all the matches be televised; don’t televise my match and next time you don’t go to televise the other person’s match.
“I believe that if this is done, we will know the actual champions of the league.
“It is not winning at all cost or by all means; what we need is to know who will be the actual champion of 2013/2014 league season,’’ Ozor added.
Prompt News reports that four Rangers players; Captian Chigozie Agbim, Ejike Uzoenyi, Ugonna Uzochukwu and Christain Obiozor are currently on national assignment with the Super Eagles at the Championship of African Nations (CHAN).
Rangers FC will welcome Nembe City FC in its first match of the new season.
