Former Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr. Bolaji Ojo-Oba has said that Super Eagles Head Coach Stephen Keshi erred with his comments against the coach of Malawi, Tom Saintfiet.
Saintfiet branded Keshi’s comment as racist and has taken up the matter by making a formal complaint to World’s Football Governing Body, FIFA.
Dr. Ojo Oba insists that Keshi should in actual fact apologise to the Malawian coach Saintfiet and to Malawi for using such harsh words on the coach.
“I think Keshi should apologise to Saintfiet and Malawi for making derogatory comments that has reached head quarters of FIFA in Zurich. FIFA frowns as such comments which are considered as racism”.
“Our players and coaches should see themselves as ambassadors of Nigeria and should do everything humanly possible to protect the image of the country” Ojo Oba who is a director in the National Sports Commission stated.
He disclosed that Keshi should not wait until the world football governing body takes a drastic measure before apologizing, stressing that though Keshi has denied calling Saintfiet a ‘white dude’ he need to go a step further by saying that he was sorry.
