The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has celebrated Morocco’s historic feat at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, reports Prompt News.
The Atlas Lions made history as the first African nation to reach the World Cup semis after a remarkable 1-0 victory against Portugal at the Al Thumama Stadium, Doha on Saturday afternoon.
Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri netted the winning goal for the North Africans three minutes before the break.
CAF took to the social media to eulogize the North Africans on the win.
“Morocco become the first African side to reach #FIFA World Cup semi finals! What an achievement by the Atlas Lions! @En Maroc,” the continent’s soccer governing body tweeted.
Morocco will play the winner of the quarter final fixture between England and France in the semi-final.
