ABUJA – By Olusegun Lawrence Hundreds of protesters on Tuesday stormed Nigeria’s National Assembly Complex in Abuja, demanding immediate resignation of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
Embattled Saraki is facing corruption trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT in Abuja.
He was alleged to have declared false assets when he was Governor of Kwara State, North-Central Nigeria from 2003 to 2011.
The group, ‘Occupy NASS’ had gathered at the Unity Fountain from where they marched to the National Assembly Complex.
The protesters displayed placards with various inscriptions such as:
“Saraki must go”, “Enough is Enough”, “Legislooting” among others.
They vowed to continue the protest until Saraki resigns.
A pro-Saraki Coalition had on Monday alerted the public through a press statement that the “Occupy NASS” campaign was targeted at compelling the Senate President to resign.
