Determined to persuade President Muhammadu Buhari to sign without further delay the #NotTooYoungToRun Bill, a youth movement has called out Nigerians to rally at Unity Fountain, Abuja on Wednesday, March 14, 2018.
Speaking in Abuja on Friday, an umbrella body of the Nigerian Youth and Civil Society Groups called ‘Not Too Young to Run’ Movement said members of the 55 Groups that make up the body will turn out enmass in Abuja next week.
The focus will be to drive home the message to President Buhari and members of the National Assembly to hasten the Constitution Amendment which will allow the Youth of Nigeria to participate actively in the 2019 General Elections.
According to them, the Age Reduction Bill popularly referred to as #NotTooYoungToRun Bill has received affirmative votes from 35 State Assemblies and has been sent to NASS for onward transmission to the President to Assent so that it becomes law ahead of the next Elections.
They therefore called for a National Day of Action on Presidential Assent for Wednesday, March 14, 2018 but warned that the rally is not a protest, adding that it is a peaceful citizens engagement with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Those who addressed the media are Ibrahim Faruk, Cynthia Mbamalu, Chioma Agwuebo and Dr. Laz Ude who are Strategy Team Members of the Group.
