The Nasarawa State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nigeria Off-Grid Market Acceleration Program (NOMAP) to enhance power supply in the state.
Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi, Managing Director of Nasarawa Investment and Development Agency (NASIDA) ,signed the MoU on behalf of the state government on Friday in Lafia.
Speaking during the agreement signing, Abdullahi said Nasarawa Electricity Power Agency (NAEPA) would serve as the technical lead in the implementation of the agreement.
The Managing Director added that the partnership was a step towards bringing the Nasarawa vision of becoming amongst the top three most competitive economies in Nigeria to actualisation.
He explained that the support from NOMAP would further strengthen the capacity of the state, improve the business environment and offer conducive environment for investment to strive.
He added that it would also offer certainty to prospective investors as well as assist to provide electricity to hard to reach communities.
“The collaboration would also provide an opportunity to enhance our
state’s off-rrid energy landscape, attract investment, and promote sustainable
development.
“We are excited about the prospects of this project, and welcome all players within the electricity value chain for the benefit of our people,” he added.
On his part,Mr Adedotun Eyinade, Programme Director of NOMAP, said the programme would support the state to achieve its energy policy and build the right capacity to provide power to more communities.
He also said that MOMAP help the state to tackle the barriers limiting its growth and promote the creation of a favorable environment for clean energy.
