Ahead of the PDP governorship primaries election, Taraba state police command working on the order of the State Acting governor, Sani Abubakar Danlandi has withdrawal security details attached to former Acting governor and leading PDP governorship aspirant, Garba Umar.
Abubakar also ordered the withdrawal of security attachés to key supporters of the former acting governor and his political appointees.
Abubakar gave the directive during a security meeting with Head of security agencies in the state on Friday, while security details of former governor Umar, his SSG Garvey Yawe, and other political appointee during his administration did not resume duty post on Saturday Morning.
The police command PRO ASP Joseph Kwaji,said he’s not aware of the development.
However Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of Zone 3 Yola, Abubakar Mohammed Jinjiri said he did not instruct the withdrawal of security details of any politician in Taraba state.
He confirmed that state Commissioner of Police, CP Ademola Omole acted within his own wisdom.
He said he had warned the CP not to be partisan and ensure a level playing field is provided to all politicians in the state.
“I didn’t give such directive, I had told the CP in Taraba to ensure all political stakeholders are give equal treatment, his duty is to ensure peace and protect lives and property of the residents.”
Earlier in the week, former Acting Governor Umar has alleged that the state government and its cabal have concluded plans to intimidate and arrest him and his core supporters on trump up charges.
He said the state government resorted to the infamous plot to ensure that he is denied of every opportunity to participate in the governorship elections after all other plans had failed to stop him.
He alleged that agents of the state government also plan to invite law enforcement officers from outside the state to start a physical campaign of intimidation, harassment and arbitrary arrest of citizens on trump up charges with a view to frightening them into submission or withdrawing their support for Umar.
