Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State on Monday mobilized riot policemen to provide security for seven members of the State House of Assembly to enable them confirm his nominees for positions of Commissioners and Special advisers.
The seven lawmakers had defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the day Fayose was sworn in as Governor.
Prompt News gathered that early in the morning, two armoured personnel carriers were moved to the Assembly premises while stern looking riot policemen were also deployed.
When it was time for the business of the day, the seven PDP lawmakers were said to have been driven in a coaster bus into the Assembly complex.
The sitting which was presided over by the Speaker Temporal, Dele Olugbemi was brief as the lawmakers quickly confirmed the appointments of seven commissioner-nominees, 12 special advisers nominated by Fayose.
Also confirmed were the members of the committees to oversee the affairs of the local governments in the state.
The Governor had on assumption of office dissolved all the Local Government Areas. The sitting was immediately adjourned.
Fayose, since assumption of office has been having running battle with the State lawmakers.
The Speaker of the Assembly Dr Onimirin had adjourned sitting for a month immediately Fayose was sworn in, an action described by the Governor as a deliberate attempt to frustrate his government.
There has also been altercation between the Governor and the Speaker over allegation of bribery to frustrate the PDP government.
