The Kogi State Police Command has apprehended a 39-year-old man, Nnamdi Osita, over the alleged theft of a Toyota Coaster bus.
The vehicle, bearing Abuja registration number GWA 488 ZD, was reported stolen over a year ago from Nyanya, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, but has now been recovered from the suspect.
In a statement released on Saturday in Lokoja, the state command’s spokesperson, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, confirmed that the arrest took place on Wednesday, January 23, following an intelligence report.
According to Ovye-Aya, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Miller Dantawaye, disclosed that the stolen bus was intercepted on the Abuja-Lokoja highway.
Acting on intelligence, operatives from the ‘B’ Division Lokoja, in collaboration with other security agencies, stopped the vehicle and arrested the suspect at approximately 4:45 p.m.
“The investigation into the matter is still ongoing,” Ovye-Aya stated.
Commissioner Dantawaye reassured residents of the police command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property in Kogi State.
He also called on the public to assist law enforcement by providing timely and credible information about criminal activities.
