Determined to ensure victory for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State in the 2015 election, governorship contestants in the state have resolved to work for the party’s candidate, Gyang Pwajok.
The contestants reiterated their loyalty to the party during an interactive meeting with the gubernatorial flag bearer of the party, Senator Pwajok, on Monday in Jos.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the meeting, Emmanuel Goar, who contested the senatorial seat for Plateau central zone, said the meeting was aimed at x-raying the challenges faced during the party primaries and he view it as the right step in the right direction.
He said after intensive deliberations and exchange of views on the way forward the aspirants resolved to forget the past and worked together as a team to ensure the victory of the party.
“We have agreed to submit ourselves and go round to solicit the support of our supporters to ensure the victory of PDP at all level.”
Also speaking a contestant from Southern Plateau Timothy Parlong, who vied for the house of representative position, commended the PDP flag bearer for inviting those that lost in the primaries to solicit their support and also sharing in their pains, noting that this is the beginning
of his success story.
Parlong praised Pwajok public service achievements and character. “Whether you agree with him or not, he steadfastly put his energy into serving the state as he believed it was right. He is a humble young man and served the redemption government diligently. And he is somebody that labored in this campaign with honor,” he said. Stressing that, “this is what motivate us to agree to work as a family to ensure the victory of the party.”
Pwajok who expressed his joy over the outcome of the meeting said he felt there was the need for him to meet with the aspirants to find common ground to deal with the challenges ahead, noting that the fact that somebody lost an election does not mean that he lacks followership.
He appreciates their willingness to honour and accept his invitation to work as a team towards attaining victory in the general elections.
The meeting was attended by those who contested for various positions drawn across the 17 local government areas in the state.
