The rush to court by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Kayode Fayemi-led Government to stop the Peoples Democratic Party’s Candidate in Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose from participating in the June 21 election has been described as a confirmation that APC is in a jittery mood against the backdrop of the determination of the people of the state to vote the ruling party out of government.
This assertion was contained in a statement issued to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Sunday by the publicity committee of the Peoples Democratic Party and signed by its chairman, Kola Oluwawole.
In the statement, it was maintained that if the candidate of the All Progressive Congress and the incumbent governor of the state, Kayode fayemi is confident of winning the election he and his members will not result to a subterfuge means to truncate the will of the people of the state by the move to stop Fayose from contesting the governorship election.
Oluwawole said that though the attempt will fail but queried the APC on its desperation about this court matter, saying that it has only exposed the party and its candidate that they are no more popular again hence the result to this jittery move.
” To us in the Peoples Democratic Party we believe that the game is up for APC government because of its misgovernance and negligence of those things that used to make people happy coupled with its deceitful style of administration”
According to the statement the going to court before the election even take place by the APC is a revelation that its defeat at the election will be so humiliating to the extent that it will be difficult to contest in any tribunal or court after the election.
” Our candidate, Ayo Fayose will not only defeat APC candidate, Kayode Fayemi at the election but the gap will be too wide for anybody to challenge at the election petition tribunal; that is the reason why they are now running from pillars to poles in order to disallow Fayose from participating in historical election”
The statement further read that at this stage of the election there is nothing that the APC can do again to evade the impending electoral doom that is hovering over it and its candidate ‘ we can only advice the party to choose the parth of honour and announce its withdrawal from the race as well as apologise for the suffering which its government has subjected the people of Ekiti into in the last three and half years’
” On our own part we shall gladly proceed to the government house after winning the election with a strong will to put smile on the faces of the people once again and move Ekiti to the promised land which the people are yearning for but denied them by this frustrated and jittery government of the All Progressive Congress”
